S6801 LLU MAX - Stainless steel, MAX design, ABEC-3, radial suspension bearing - 12mm x 21mm x 5mm - Enduro Bearings pioneered MAX type bearings almost 20 years ago for bikes to tackle the challenges associated with mountain bike pivots. MAX type bearings offer a load capacity that is 35 to 40% higher than standard radial bearings by using a special design that incorporates the maximum number of balls in the bearing through a machined slot on the races. The extra balls, combined with deep grooves in these bearings, provide better lateral support for the twisting and multidirectional forces associated with mountain bike pivots. This ABEC-3 bearing features deep groove races, with grade 10 balls and double-lipped full contact seals, labyrinths (LLU) for maximum protection against the elements, while maintaining a 90% filling of Almagard extra high pressure grease inside. Not all stainless steels are the same. - Enduro only uses 440C stainless steel balls and races to provide long life and superior corrosion resistance in applications and environments that may be less than ideal. 440C has the highest strength, hardness, and wear resistance of all the stainless steel alloys in the 440 series with a high carbon content. As expected, it is also the most expensive of the 440 series alloys and requires several heat and cryogenic treatments to achieve its superior mechanical properties. Although stainless steel has a load capacity that is 20% lower and is slightly softer than our standard 52100 chrome steel used in most of our bearings, stainless steel is an excellent alternative for use in wet conditions, if you frequently wash your bike, or where sweat can be an issue. All Enduro stainless steel bearings come with a full two-year anti-corrosion warranty. This bearing has been used as a suspension pivot bearing by several bike brands, including Intense and Guerrilla Gravity. The Enduro range of bearings is available in high carbon chrome steel, 440C stainless steel, hybrid ceramic, and XD15 with ceramic or stainless steel balls. Our bearings are always designed with the deepest possible races to accommodate the largest balls and feature double-lipped seals that roll in a micro-groove creating a true labyrinth for superior protection against the elements.
